Spirit Weight - In Memory of Your Special Friend

Usually, at least once in a lifetime, we are fortunate enough to have a really special creature be part of our life.

For me, it was an Alaskan Malamute mix named "Spirit". He was my constant companion and my best friend. In August of 2001, I lost Spirit to cancer. I wanted to do something really special to honor him. I made a "Spirit Weight". A Spirit Weight is a work of art; it is a blown glass weight with a special hollow inside into which a small amount of cremation ashes is placed. The ashes are safely sealed inside the Spirit Weight, so that the weight can be put in an appropriate place as a reminder of that special friend. A Spirit Weight can be given to a family member or a close friend as a way to share the memory. A Spirit Weight can also be made in memory of a human friend or family member. All Spirit Weights are made by Marc S. Boutte. The weights are decorated with a pattern of pulled and feathered glass over a thin layer of silver. Each weight is a unique piece whose shape and size will vary slightly. The finished piece will be between 3 " and 4" tall and is signed by Marc. The botton of the Spirit Weight can be engraved with a name and any date or dates that you wish.
